The Sheriff & Addie McBride Available on Amazon!
Last fall, my short story, The Sheriff & Addie McBride, managed to take the Dare to Dream One Poetry and Writing Contest first prize. You can imagine that I was completely over the moon and in utter disbelief that I had actually won something, and for my writing, no less. It was a great feeling.
Now that the next round of winners has been posted, and the rights reverting back to me after my story was archived on the Dare to Dream site, I have figured an award-winning short would make a perfect candidate for Amazon KDP. Here’s hoping I get a few readers to discover my short western story and garner a few reviews in the process. A little pocket change would be nice too.
My sweet and handy husband whipped up the amazing cover image using a great photo from Flikr by Randen Pederson. I think it really embodies my short western.
Story synopsis:
Civil War veteran Evert Hamm is the new sheriff of Coachella, a small railroad and date farming community near Palm Springs. One summer morning, he meets the starving, eight-year-old Addie McBride as she raids his chicken coop. Sheriff Hamm sees amazing potential in Addie’s intelligent eyes and takes the youngster under his wing.
